East London Dance is delighted to announce the launch of TALENT HOUSE IGNITE a brand-new collection of programmes designed to support the creativity and career progression of creatives, artists and producers from, living in and working in east London.

Supported by The Linbury Trust, Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Arts Council England, Talent House Ignite includes three programmes, each underpinned by East London Dance’s unwavering commitment to creative expression, building networks and sustainable careers, and promoting the wellbeing of our communities.

Talent House Ignite offers three key strands of support across: community and network building (FLAT SHARE), curated building takeovers (OUR HOUSE) and artistic commissions (SPACE 2 CREATE).

FLAT SHARE is a brand new free creative community for artists, producers and creatives of any kind, united by a passion for movement, and at any stage in their career. The programme’s ambition is to create space to connect, collaborate, create and grow together. The community will have access to discounted studio space; free co-working space; producing advice; skill sharing resources; regular events and opportunities.

Expressions of interest can be submitted until Monday 16 September 2024, 10am  – Apply here

OUR HOUSE is a funded opportunity for artists, producers or collectives to take over creative control of the Talent House and curate a week of activity that supports and celebrates their communities.

The East London Dance team will work hand in hand with the selected curators to create not only an incredible week of events, but to equip them with transferable tools to support their career development. Each commissioned Curator will benefit from one week of building space, a fee and commissioning budget, and event/marketing producing support. OUR HOUSE takeovers will take place in November 2024 and March 2025.

Applications are open until Monday 19 August 2024, 10am – Apply here

SPACE 2 CREATE is a brand-new opportunity to give creatives and producers the space, time and funding to develop new and awe-inspiring live dance work for the public.  There will be two commissions awarded annually. Commissioned artists will receive: a £4000 commission, additional funding to support collaborative relationships in the studios and the creation of marketing materials, free studio space, and a tailored producing support package that includes support applying for an Arts Council England Project Grant.

Applications open in September 2024Find out more

Tia Hassan & Kate Scanlan, Creative Director/CEOs, East London Dance said:

“For 36 years, East London Dance has worked with un-amplified talent from Hip Hop and south Asian dance communities and especially those traditionally underrepresented in the sector. Talent House Ignite is inspired by those creatives and sets out to support their wellbeing, sense of belonging, skills and social impact on their communities.

Over the next three years, Talent House Ignite will create a home for 140 creatives, commission six artistic building takeovers and six new dance works, collectively impacting over 10,000 audiences. We are delighted with the support from The Linbury Trust, Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Arts Council England, who recognise the importance and ambition of this project.”

Maren Ellermann, Artist Support Producer, East London Dance said:

“Creating a space for our creative community is fundamental to what we do at East London Dance. We have been in constant conversation with artists and producers over the past few years, finding out what support most benefits them and how that has changed post-pandemic. This feedback has led to the creation of Talent House Ignite, which brings all strands of our support work under one umbrella. United by a passion for movement, we cannot wait to continue building these important relationships with the creatives of east London and beyond.”
